the Lucky 13s Mega Battle

(note: click on the title above to see GWs info on the Lucky 13s campaign)

Yesterday I played in my first Apocalypse game. It was a 24,000 point game and it was HUGE! I was on the Imperial side with my Faithful Space Marines. We battled over a city of the planet Mordant Prime. Unfortunately, the Imperials lost and my Faithful were cut down to the last man. On the positive side, I had a great time and won an award for the best painted objective marker in the game. It took me two weeks to make. Check it out:

I never got anywhere near my objective marker! As it turns out, the Orks and forces of Chaos were on us so fast that I barely out out in front of my starting zone. My Space Marines were positioned directly in the center of the Imperial line and we were hit HARD! Here is a shot of the Green Horde (left) approaching the Imperial positions (right)...

Here is an image of Captain Vetticus of the Faithful looking out as the green horde approaches the Imerial line:

This monstrous ork warbeast would almost certainly make any but the stoutest shake in their boots...

Here is the Last Stand of the Faithful... they brace themselves for the impact of the onrushing forces of evil!

In the end a grand time was had by all. We played for six hours! I was honored to receive an award for Best Objective Marker! The prize was superbly cool: a Citadel Basing Kit (a $20 value).

I am greatly looking forward to the next Lucky 13s battle. Now, if only they would bring the Warhammer to New Braunfels so I didn't have to drive to the far side of San Antonio...
