We've been gaming a long time. We've been playing Magic since 4th edition. Recently our New Braunfels gaming group has been playing Warmachine and Warhammer 40K. There are 6 regular players in our group and a couple of our kids are learning to play...
So drop a line if you want a game. My e-mail address is kerstan@gmail.com...
PS It is starting to look like DPAD on San Antonio Street might be a good place for games. They already play Magic there and they have open gaming tables. Their website is http://thedpadonline.com
Warhammer New Braunfels ... 40K Warhammer in the Texas Hill Country!
This blog is about playing Warhammer 40K. Recently, we also started playing WARMACHINE so I've added a few pictures of that here too (as a friend of mine said, "Its all the same hobby!"
Warhammer 40,000 is a science fiction wargame set in the distant future (39 thousand years in the future). Valiant Space Marines fight a never-ending battle to protect humanity from a dangerous and uncaring universe. The game is about squad level combat fought with models that are built and painted by the players. In my opinion, building and painting these models is just as much fun as the "battles." Wargames have been around a *long* time. Prussian officers practiced tactics via wargames in the 1800s. HG Wells created a wargame called Little Wars in the early 1900s. For more information on what wargames are a good place to look is Wikipedia.org (see the links further down in this page).
Last March my son and I decided to start playing Warhammer 40K. It has turned into a wonderful father-son hobby. We paint together, build models together, and just have fun. We've had several battles between his alien Tau and my valient Space Marines
Wargames have a long history (back to the 1800s). Check out these articles about the hobby...
My name is Kerstan. Some people who have known me a long time call me Chris. I am a proud father with two wonderful children and a fantastic wife. I am a second grade teacher in New Braunfels, Texas. I spend a lot of my leisure time painting little plastic model soldiers (and I find it very relaxing). I am a generally nice guy who is glad to be where he is in life.
The Tau embrace technology in a grim future universe where humanity fears technology.

This is the Warhammer 40,000 novel I am currently reading. It seems solidly written so far.

I have three tomes of Black Library books: this one, the Soul Drinkers Omnibus and one called the Founding. I am entranced by the richness of the universe that the game and these stories are set in
The Founding
This has been well reviewed. I look forward to reading it after I finish the other two.
Battle for Macragge (the set that got us started).

If you are in New Braunfels, Texas and want a nice game of Warhammer 40K...
If you have stumbled across this page and you happen to be a 40K player in the New Braunfels area then perhaps we might have a friendly game. Note that my third grade son and I are not interested in anything other than laid back, friendly games free of invective, profanity, and "munchkinism."
In short, this is a family hobby for us (and my brother who also lives in NB). If that appeals to you drop me an e-mail at kerstan@gmail.com with your contact information. Perhaps we'll see you across the field of battle!
